The IPA team is:
Nita was formerly the adviser on trade unions to Prime Minister Tony Blair, working as assistant political secretary in the Political Office at 10 Downing Street from January 2001 to June 2007. Her role included liaison with individual unions and the TUC, developing national policy in areas such as the two-tier workforce and work-life balance, supporting ministers by trouble-shooting in industrial disputes, and helping to manage relations with MPs and the Labour Party. She was one of the key architects of the 2004 Warwick Agreement.
From 1992 to 2001 she was Political Officer for UNISON, with responsibility for liaison with the Labour Party and its policy making machinery
From 1990 to 1992 she worked for the Government of Jamaica, representing their interests in the UK.
From 1983 – 1990 she was press officer for the leaders of the GLC and ILEA. She was Ken Livingstone’s press officer during the Save the GLC campaign years, and is the author of London for Beginners, (published by Writers and Readers 1984 republished 2001).
She was press and campaigns officer for the health service union COHSE from 1976 to 1981.
Nita is a graduate of Warwick University, studying history and politics and has a MA in labour history from the same university.
Derek Luckhurst, Training and Development Director
Before joining the IPA, Derek was the Manufacturing, Science And Finance Union's National Secretary for Legal & General and instrumental in establishing a breakthrough partnership agreement, signed in 1997.
At the IPA he has worked with a wide range of organisations, helping with the establishment of effective partnership working, developing information and consultation processes, and enhancing trade union relationships.
He is the author of Partnership working: a practitioner's guide. Derek also pioneered the option-based consultation model and trains managers and employee representatives in the implementation of this ground-breaking process.

Willy has worked with a number of different organisations helping them work through employee relations issues in either a mentoring or an analytical role. He has also worked widely with the NHS, government agencies, the voluntary sector and with many the UK's leading trade unions both at national level and at individual workplace locations.
Willy has been closely involved in setting up works councils in organisations at a national and european level, which have a complex mix of unionised and non-union staff.
He has been leading partner in a number of european funded projects to disseminate good practice and is a sought-after speaker on employee involvement issues.
An HR professional with a varied business background gained in a major UK engineering company. A skillful trainer and facilitator specialising in programmes for organisations developing effective information and consultation processes, partnership working and high performance workplaces. Andrea is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
With an HR background at Director level in the voluntary sector, Gary is experienced in developing new arrangements for staff consultation, surveying partnership working practices and training workplace representatives.
A training specialist, Pat has experience of a wide-range of industry sectors and business cultures, providing tailored training to managers and employee representatives and coaching and mentoring programmes.
With HR experience gained at Director level, Jacquie now develops change management programmes and HR strategies for a wide range of organisations, delivers training and development programmes at all levels, and advises on employment law matters.
