About Us

What we do

The IPA is the only UK organisation to specialise in assisting both unionised and non-unionsed organisations to develop effective information and consultation processes and workplace partnership, leading to:
  • greater competitiveness
  • increased profits and productivity
  • more efficient services
  • improved employee relations
  • higher quality performance
  • enhanced ability to manage change effectively
  • better staff morale and motivation
The IPA has long been at the leading edge of debate and research into employee involvement and participation and has an unrivalled wealth of experience and research data, which informs the services provided to its many clients across all sectors of industry and commerce.

The IPA is completely independent. Funding of the not-for-profit body is via membership subscription and fee income from consultancy and training services.

Influencing Policy and Research

The IPA is at the forefront of the policy debate around employee involvement. In the UK it has worked with the DTI on the EU Directive on Information and Consultation with Employees.

The IPA aims to disseminate best practice to practioners and policy makers, and works with research partners in the UK and Europe. These include ACAS, DTI, CBI, The European Commission and The Work Foundation. The IPA is also an active member of UKWON (UK Work Organisation Network), helping to develop awareness of new forms or work organisation.
