Training and Mentoring

For managers and employee representatives involved in consultation processes:

The IPA can design training packages for you to ensure the quick and effective implementation of new or enhanced consultation processes. We offer a range of practical, workshop-style training programmes and one-to-one mentoring for managers and employee representatives, including:

  • Developing the right agenda for your staff forum
  • Meeting skills, including the role of the representatives and the chair
  • Communicating and providing feedback
  • Understanding what consultation is and what it means for your business.
In addition to enhancing the skills required for effective consultation, training is designed to gain employees' and mangers' commitment to the process, and deliver active ambassadors for consultation in the organisation.

To support the training, the IPA can write and produce a handbook for employee representatives that will provide ongoing support and guidance as they develop their role. Click here for more information and a sample section

For all staff involved in establishing and maintaining workplace partnership and high performance working:

The success of workplace partnership can depend on a mutual understanding of the operation of partnership in the workplace and the adoption of appropriate attitudes and behaviours.

The IPA can design and deliver joint training workshops for managers, trade union representatives, and employee representatives involved in the process.

The IPA is also able to offer mentoring and coaching for all those involved in partnership and high performance working.

A Practitioner's Guide to Partnership Working is available from the IPA. Click here for details
