There is growing evidence of the importance of employee engagement in the NHS. Trusts with high levels of employee engagement tend to have higher levels of employee well being, as well as more satisfied patients and better clinical outcomes.

With the NHS facing significant challenges and substantial financial pressures, employee engagement is more important than ever.

This case study looks at the approach to employee engagement at Employee Engagement at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, a large acute trust based in central Lonon. The trust has long been one of the top performers in terms of employee engagement. This case study examines their approach to engagement and the factors that explain its success. The case study forms part of a major project looking at employee engagement in the NHS.
