IPA are undertaking a major study of police forces across the UK, looking at how forces engage with their officers and staff through innovation and transformation programmes. Currently we have 10 participating forces signed up: Avon & Somerset, Cheshire, Cumbria, Dyfed Powys, GMP, Lincolnshire, North Wales, PSNI, Surrey and Sussex. We are looking at a range of different transformation projects they are running, from the roll-out of mobile devices, to new community policing models, to new reporting and call handling procedures to cross-force cooperation in operational units.

The research will be published in a full report in 2018 alongside recommendations and key lessons about how best to engage with the workforce during change programmes. This will include interviews with College of Policing, HMIC and others, as well as the case studies from the participating forces.
