There is growing evidence of the importance of employee engagement in the NHS. Trusts with high levels of employee engagement tend to have higher levels of employee well being, as well as more satisfied patients and better clinical outcomes.

With the NHS facing significant challenges and substantial financial pressures, employee engagement is more important than ever.

This case study looks at the approach to employee engagement at Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The trust has an innovative approach to engaging with staff that has led to substantial increases  in engagement over the last few years. This case study examines this approach and the factors that account for this success.

The case study forms part of a major project looking at employee engagement in the NHS.
