There is growing evidence of the importance of employee engagement in the NHS. Trusts with high levels of employee engagement tend to have higher levels of employee well being, as well as more satisfied patients and better clinical outcomes.

With the NHS facing significant challenges and substantial financial pressures, employee engagement is more important than ever.

This case study looks at the approach to employee engagement at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, a mental health trust covering Derby and the surrounding areas. The trust has managed to drive up levels of employee engagement substantially over the last few years. In this case study, we look at how they've managed to do this and the lessons other trusts could learn from their experience.

The case study forms part of a major project looking at employee engagement in the NHS.
