There is growing evidence of the importance of employee engagement in the NHS. Trusts with high levels of employee engagement tend to have higher levels of employee well being, as well as more satisfied patients and better clinical outcomes.

With the NHS facing significant challenges and substantial financial pressures, employee engagement is more important than ever.

This case study looks at the approach to employee engagement at Employee Engagement at Employee Engagement at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, a mental health and learning disability trust based in south east London. The trust has consistently had among the highest levels of employee engagement of any trust in the NHS. In this case study, we look at their innovative and effective approach to engaging with their employees and draw out possible lessons for other trusts.

The case study forms part of a major project looking at employee engagement in the NHS.
